Defined term / workflow

Plan mode

A read-only agent mode that can inspect, explain, and route without launching side effects.

Definition

Plan mode keeps the agent on the inspection and routing path. It can read workspace files, load skills, search knowledge, and prepare the next action — but it never writes files, runs commands, or launches compute. The first real compute hop requires the engineer to leave plan mode and approve a typed envelope.
