  3. Chat Interface

Chat Interface

The primary workspace for simulation requests, tool execution, and iterative analysis.

The chat interface is where you drive everything in SimPilot: setup, execution, debugging, and reporting.

Inputs you can use

  • Text: natural-language requirements and follow-up instructions
  • Attachments: images, PDFs, geometry files, datasets, archives
  • Voice: microphone recording with automatic transcription

Streaming and execution visibility

Responses stream in real time while tools run in the background. You can see intermediate tool outputs and continue iterating in the same thread.

Message and artifact experience

SimPilot renders simulation-aware outputs directly in chat, including file previews, logs, metric cards, and richer artifacts. For editable documents and canvas behavior, see Canvas & Artifacts.

Branching and regeneration

  • Regenerate assistant messages to create sibling responses
  • Edit earlier user messages to branch the conversation from that point
  • Keep alternatives without losing previous work

Search, history, and organization

  • Search chat history from the sidebar
  • Group related work inside projects
  • Reopen historical chats with preserved context

Sharing and comments

Chats can be shared via public link and collaborator access controls. For access levels and comments, see Sharing & Collaboration.

Export and handoff

You can export conversations for handoff or documentation (PDF/JSON/Markdown). For project exports and report generation, see Exports & Reports.
